Update: 16,000 Aussie homes join our power campaign

After reaching the target of 10,000 sign-ups in the first day — we’ve set a new goal. And you can join today!

The 9Saver power campaign was launched on Friday February 16 in a bid to use people power to source exclusive energy discounts for homes who sign up. And after reaching our goal of 10,000 Aussie households signing up on day one of the campaign, we’re now pushing our target to 20,000 homes!

After the four week campaign comes to a close in March, 9Saver will release any successful discounted offers here on 9Saver.com.au – but whether you choose to take them up or not is entirely up to you. So what’s the update on how many homes have signed up and how can you get involved?

To get an exclusive update on the campaign, TODAY chatted to consumer campaigner Christopher Zinn.

TODAY: So, how is the campaign going so far?

ZINN: We’ve got off to a great start with 13,000 households joining up already — so we have revised the target to 20,000 households over the next four weeks. The response shows that electricity prices, and what people can do about it, remains a top-of-mind issue. This campaign is designed to help people find the confidence to take action and find better value in their power bills.

TODAY: Is it still possible for people to sign up?

ZINN: It’s all very simple. Sign up on the 9Saver site and sign up with little more than your email address so we can stay in touch. There’s no cost or obligation. By joining the group you are merely signalling that you are in the market for a new electricity offer. After four weeks we will have approached the power companies to see what they can come up with for the group — which you’d be unlikely or unable to find yourself.

TODAY: And tell us what happens after people join?

ZINN: Over the next four weeks we’ll keep you posted with news and tips around power saving and the electricity market. Then you’ll be sent an offer in clear details which you can compare with your exisiting provider or with others to see if it makes sense for you and how great the savings might be. Then, if you wish, you can ask your exisiting provider for a better deal, or switch with 9Saver.

HERE’S HOW IT WORKS

  1. Over 4 weeks, 9Saver campaigns via TODAY and A Current Affair for 10,000 Aussie homes to join the power campaign at 9Saver.com.au
  2. As the group builds, 9Saver uses this combined buying power to source exclusive discounted energy offers from one or more providers.
  3. After 4 weeks, 9Saver releases the offers via 9Saver.com.au – there is no requirement to take up any offer.
