Vinnies reports find Alinta Energy is one of the cheapest
Consumer have potential to make big savings by switching with Alinta Energy offering the cheapest market offers in Queensland, and among the cheapest in Victoria and South Australia
The provider of the current Special Electricity & Gas Offers for 9Saver members has been ranked one of the cheapest in the country in a series of new reports from the charity Vinnies.
Alinta Energy is offering the cheapest market offers in Queensland, and among the cheapest in Victoria and South Australia, the reports find.
This is especially good news for 9Saver members, who can currently get even bigger Alinta discounts than the general public – although the offers will close soon.
The annual Vinnies report on Queensland’s energy market found that Alinta Energy’s current 28% discount offer is the number one cheapest plan in Queensland. (The current 9Saver offer is even better, with the same discount and rates, plus a $25 bonus on top.)
Vinnies also says Alinta Energy’s current 43% discount offer is in the top five cheapest plans in all 5 of the Victorian Electricity zones. (The 9Saver offer features an even bigger discount with the same rates.)
In SA, Alinta’s 25% discount ranks 3rd cheapest, according to Vinnies. (Again, the 9Saver special offer features an even bigger discount applied to the same rates.)
Vinnies has not yet published its 2018 report on NSW but there is also a special discount in that state for 9Saver members.
According to the Vinnies report, In Victoria, as of July 2018 the average electricity market offer bill for households using 4,800 kWh/annum is $1,585.
Alinta Energy’s average annual bill (with their market offer) ranges from just $1,187 to $1,487 across Victoria’s five Electricity zones.
Similarly, in Queensland, as of July 2018, the average annual electricity bill for Queenslanders using 8,000kWh per annum comes in at just under $2,330 for market offer customers.
The same report places Alinta Energy’s annual electricity bill (with their market offer) at just $2,044.
The Vinnie’s report places Alinta Energy’s annual electricity bill bill (with their market offer) at $2,439.
The Vinnies reports come after leading energy researchers said that Alinta Energy had been a principal factor in driving energy costs down in Australia.
“Alinta is doing more for lowering electricity costs on the east coast than anything the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission will do,” Wood Mackenzie principal lead for oil and gas, Saul Kavonic, told Fairfax Media.
