Electricity named the bill causing the most stress to the family budget
The extent of the pressure power prices puts on the family budget has been made clear in the initial findings of a recent 9Saver survey.
43 percent of those surveyed said electricity was the bill causing the most concern, ahead of mortgage repayments (14%), health insurance (12%) and groceries (3%).
The survey of 3,174 households found South Australians were feeling the strain from rising power prices more than any other state.
Due to the rising cost of living and stagnant wages growth, the survey also found the majority of Australians are experiencing considerable financial strain, with 40 to 50 year olds feeling the pinch the most.
The findings come as 9Saver searches for an additional 5,000 people to join the 9Saver Bill Buster Campaign, which aims to slash household bills.
9Saver Campaigner Christopher Zinn says the consumer network still has one more week to achieve its target of 10,000 extra households before releasing exclusive deals in October.
“We want to grow our total membership base to over 190,000 because that will give us the irresistible buying power to source new exclusive offers on electricity, gas, mortgages as well as health, home and car insurance,” he said
To bring some additional relief to Today viewers, 10 households who join the 9Saver Bill Buster campaign for free by 30 November will win a year’s free electricity.*
“It’s free to enter, all you have to do is just join the campaign and tell us in 25 words or less why you’d like to win free power for a year,” Zinn said.
