Free rent for Queensland tenants
How to make the most of the these deals offering several weeks free rent AND perks
Renting a home can be expensive — particularly if you live in one of Australia’s bigger cities — but in Queensland it’s actually good time to find a rental deal that includes added perks, with developers offering all types of initiatives.
Indeed, there are now a range of great offers that benefit those who are opting to rent instead of buy – giving renters in some cases, six weeks free rent if they sign leases on certain properties. Some of the best options include houses, townhouses and apartments — and can even include extra incentives such as free internet and lawn-mowing.
Recently there have been instances of properties on realestate.com.au offering six weeks went, and currently you can find the below:
- Live four weeks rent free in one of these modern terrace homes in the western suburbs
- Or two weeks free rent at Coomera on the Gold Coast.
“Rental incentives are something landlords offer when they are keen to procure a tenant,” Real Estate Institute of Queensland (REIQ) CEO, Antonia Mercorella said.
There are offers available on a variety of different units, houses and townhouses – meaning it could well be worth shopping around for the best deal for your circumstances.
“We are a new developed site here one of the largest complexes in Springfield Lakes,” Creekside Views director Jarrod Stockman told Nine News.
Creekside Views was designed especially for investors — offering brand new townhouses available to rent now, there are even four-bedroom houses that offer a bonus of a week’s free rent and free lawn-mowing.
And Creekside Views Property Manager Trudy Stockman explained this could be an attractive prospect to busy renters.
“It’s one less thing that you’ve got to do in your busy week,” Stockman said.
However, the REIQ advises that it’s always worth negotiating — not just on free rent but other bonuses like free internet and bringing pets.
While the Gold Coast rental market is the tightest, there could be more leeway in the coming months, according to the REIQ.
“We’ve seen things like free gym memberships, vouchers for things like shopping we’ve also heard of landlords assisting with removalist fees so really your imagination is the only limitation,” Mercorella said.
Keep in mind that while free rental offers are more likely on new developments where there are bulk properties to fill, competition is driving deals on older style apartments and houses as well. It’s worth checking for the best free rent deals listed on real estate websites.
“Rather than having that property vacant for an extra week or two if you offer a rental incentive you can snap up a tenant much faster,” Mercorella said.
