New 9Saver NBN & Mobile Campaign off to a flying start!

With a target of 100,000 members, 9Saver is looking to use people power to source exclusive new special offers in NBN and Mobile

Almost 3,000 Aussie homes have already joined the first-ever 9Saver NBN & Mobile Campaign in just a few days! 

The campaign aims to use the combined buying power of 100,000 Aussie homes to source exclusive telco offers, and currently needs around 17,000 more homes to hit its target.  

Launched on the TODAY Show on Tuesday, 9Saver hopes to use the campaign results to drive extra competition in the telco market.

It’s an important campaign for Aussies, because when the NBN comes to your street, homes and businesses have 18 months to pick a plan and provider before their old copper wire is cut. TODAY: Bek, take us through exactly how the campaign works…

DAY: 9Saver use people power to unlock special offers for our members. So far we’ve had almost 83,000 Aussie homes join up. Previously, we’ve been able to source special offers on power, Health Insurance and Home and Car Insurance. Now we’re tackling a really, really important household bill for Aussies — NBN and mobile. There’s no cost to becoming a 9Saver member, you just go to 9Saver.com.au and enter your email. It’s a significant bill to tackle because 3.9Million Aussies are already connected to the NBN and 6.7Million are ready to connect. Eventually we are all going to be connected to NBN and once that happens you only have 18 months to pick a plan before the old copper wires are cut — so NBN really is going to affect everyone! We want to get people a better deal.

TODAY: How many Aussies need to join the campaign to unlock these potential savings? 

DAY: We want to build our member base to 100,000, so that we can go to telco providers and say, ‘Hey, we have 100k homes on board who want a better deal on their NBN and mobile bills — what deals can you offer them?’. So while we’re definitely shooting for 100k members, really the more members we have the better sway we have with these providers. As an individual, it can be hard to challenge providers for a better deal. And we’ve found from our previous 9Saver campaigns that there really is power in numbers. We want to advocate for our members and get them better deals for NBN and Mobile.

TODAY: So how do we get on board? 

DAY: Just head to 9Saver.com.au, sign up with your email address to become a member. There’s no cost, and no obligation to take up the offers at all. Now, you’ll probably do that on your mobile phone like I did — and like many Aussies I use a LOT of data, which is why we’re also looking to source mobile phone offers with this campaign. Research shows there was a 38.6% increase in data downloads in Australia in 2017. Plus, research also showed that consumers regularly exceed their mobile data limits, and it’s costing us – close to $313m per year for that extra data.

TODAY: How long do we have to sign up? 

DAY: Our NBN and Mobile campaign launches today. We are going to campaign for four weeks but really we want as many people to sign up as soon as possible. Our goal is to reach 100,000 members — so that’s now around 17,000 more over the next four weeks.But look, the more members we have, as I said, the better chance we have of getting a really great deal that can save Aussies hundreds a year on these bills. The really important thing to remember is that when your area is connected to the NBN, you only have 18 months to get on a plan.

TODAY: With these deals, how much money can Aussies potentially save? 

What’s amazing is that recent analysis from Mozo has shown that if you’re on the right NBN deal for you, you could save $736 a year. That’s huge! So first up we want to help educate people on what they could save just by being on the right plan. Are you on the right speed, the right data plan, ultimately the right plan for you? A great way to do that is to get thousands of Aussies together, use that people power to source exclusive discounts on NBN and mobile plans, and then you can use that to see if you can save hundreds by switching. It’s entirely up to you whether you take any offers.
